Welcome

Treaty Land Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that we are on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux (So-toe), Blackfoot, Métis, Dene (De-nay) and Nakota Sioux (Sue). We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.

Principal's Message

Greetings to the Ross Sheppard Community! As a fourth year Principal at Ross Sheppard High School, I am honoured and privileged to work alongside the staff, students, and families. Ross Sheppard High School has built its success by working cooperatively with parents and the community to provide a meaningful educational experience for each of its students. It is through these relationships that the staff at Ross Sheppard are able to help our students successfully navigate high school.

Ross Sheppard High School is a proud community of learners who embrace challenges and celebrate successes in academics, athletics, fine arts, and service. ‘WE ARE SHEP’ represents the pride, tradition, and excellence that is exhibited in our halls on a daily basis. We provide a safe and inclusive environment that focuses on engaged teaching and learning. Ross Sheppard believes that all students can thrive and be successful in an environment that is kind, respectful, and safe. Our key strategies to achieve these successes are held within the terms of RelationShep, ScholarShep, MentorShep, LeaderShep, and PartnerShep. A long-standing tradition that represents our reflective practice is "If better is possible; then good is not enough" as a means to foster growth and success for all.

The Ross Sheppard School community is built upon four key pillars: Academics, Athletics, Fine Arts, and Service. Academic programming is built around the achievement of excellence for all learners while recognizing individual aspirations and abilities. The athletics experience opens the doors for all learners to exemplify the internalization of dedication, loyalty, and citizenship at all times. The fine arts allow learners to explore and appreciate the world around them by encouraging creativity to showcase versatility and adaptability to develop one's own strength and style. Ross Sheppard's motto, Okimawitaw Otatuskewin (Mastery for Service) exemplifies the endless opportunities provided for learners to take the lead. Our learners are challenged to be leaders through service around their school and in the global community.

I want all community members to know that I have an open door policy, and that our focus is on communication that supports next steps. It is our mandate to ensure success for all learners. Through dedicated intervention programming and succession-focused work, we feel that we are supporting students to take on the challenges of their next steps. My goals are to provide leadership that will continue to ensure a collaborative school environment, and differentiated instruction that meets the needs of each student. Educational programs must be meaningful for the students and Ross Sheppard High School takes pride in how we support students by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and future experiences.

On behalf of Ross Sheppard High School, I am wishing everyone an incredible 2023-2024 school year.

If you need help, contact the school or read the pre-enrolment handout

    Moved?
Update your child’s current address with the school office before pre-enrolling in SchoolZone.
