Our Student Services department is dedicated to making it as easy as possible for students to have access to awards and scholarships that will help our students pursue a post-secondary education. University of Toronto National Book Award and Scholarship Program November 11 |
Superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context. Enthusiasm for intellectual exploration and involvement in the life of their school and community. For the National Book Awards, each school may choose one outstanding student on the basis of the above criteria. One national book award will be presented to the student and they may subsequently apply for the National Scholarship Competition. Full tuition and fees for four years of undergraduate study, residence, support, renewable monetary award. Also includes the Arbor scholarships valued at $5000 for the first year, renewable at $1500 for subsequent years. |

Aboriginal Financial Officers Assocation of Canada Youth Financial Management Awards November 15 |
Three awards given to Aboriginal students in grade 11 or 12. Students are selected from across Canada to travel to Vancouver to attend the AFOA's National Conference and gain exposure to Aboriginal leaders in financial management from across the country, as well as media exposure and attendance at special sessions regarding youth leadership. A cash reward is also included. |

One scholarship worth $2500 is available to females in the last year of high school who intend to study in a post-secondary institution. Fraser Institute Student Video Contest December 30 |
Eight awards from $650-$2500. Students must be enrolled in high school or post-secondary studies. Applications must create a concept paper and YouTube video on 'Natural Disasters: The Economics of Aid and Recovery.' Awards based on originality, clear expression of ideas, production values, quality of story, and understanding of the topic. |

Merit Contractors Association Scholarship December 31 |
The Merit Contractors Association Scholarship is intended to assist children of Merit member employees pursue post-secondary education, including apprenticeship technical training. One hundred $400 scholarships will be awarded to the top 100 applicants on the basis of grade 12 academic standing and proof of enrolment of first year post-secondary education. The scholarship is for one year and will apply to any accredited post-secondary institution. |

Tema Conter Memorial Trust Scholarship December 31 |
Multiple awards of $2500. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited emergency services or emergency communications program offered at a post-secondary educational institution. A 2500-word essay on critical incident stress and post-traumatic stress disorder is required. |

This award is presented to a student from Ross Sheppard High School who has been of great service to the school. There is no expectation of academic excellence nor is the student required to have served the school for more than one year. The service can be in any of the following areas: Students' Union, Grad, Yearbook, Awards Board, a combination of clubs, Totem Hoop, etc. The student need not have held an executive position but the contribution made must have been significant. For students in financial need who have attended school in Edmonton at some point during their kindergarten through Grade 12 educational history. Priority is given to students who have attended an inner city school and, in particular, those who have attended Alex Taylor School. |

ECO Canada awards $2,500 annually to four Canadian students. Scholarships are awarded to individuals who have shown leadership in their communities in the areas of environmental protection, resource management, or environmental sustainability. Students are chosen based on the reference letter and essay they submit about their environmental accomplishments and ambitions. |

Alberta Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards May 20 |
Nominees must be Alberta Métis, First Nations or Inuit youth from 10 to 30 years of age. This is a nominated award. There are six junior or six senior award categories. Nomination packages may be submitted by any family member, organization, school, local official or individual from the nominee’s community. |

Alberta Children and Youth Services may be able to help you pay for your post-secondary education in the social services field. Bursaries from Alberta Children and Youth Services are available for full-time or part-time studies. Full-time applicants can be awarded up to $19,200. |

Applicants are ranked according to the average obtained on Diploma Examinations in one of: English 30-1, 30-2, or Français 30, 30-2, and Social Studies 30, 30-1 or 30-2 plus any three other subjects: Pure Mathematics 30, Applied Mathematics 30, Biology 30, Chemistry 30, Physics 30 or Science 30. Only the first writing will be considered. Financial need will also be considered. Recipient cannot be in receipt of any other scholarship with a value in excess of the cost of tuition. |

$1000 up to 750 available. Minimum 250 hours in the RAP Program. Citizen, or landed Immigrant. Graduating and planning to continue with Apprenticeship after high school. |

Alberta Committee of Citizens with Disabilities Education for Life Bursary June 30 |
This bursary assists first-time, post-secondary learners in overcoming the financial barriers they may encounter when taking on new educational challenges. It is awarded to people with disabilities at the entry level or those attempting one course to begin their post-secondary education. |

ConocoPhillips Aboriginal Awards Program June 30 |
Supporting Aboriginal students pursuing high school upgrading, college, or university studies. Up to 20 scholarships are awarded, valued up to $3000 each. |

Luke Santi Memorial Award for Student Achievement July 15 |
High school students accepted into a full-time academic program in Physical Sciences at a Canadian university are eligible to apply. The value of the award is $1000. Academic performance, interest in science, extra-curricular activities and volunteering are among the criteria for selection. |

MacEwan University Student Success Bursary July 31 |
Students must have already received either conditional acceptance or acceptance. The student must also demonstrate financial need as determined and confirmed by the Student Resource Centre. |

APEGGA Student Advantage Program July 31 |
This program offers no-cost benefits including access to scholarships for students enrolled in the following Alberta schools: Grande Prairie Regional College, Keyano College, MacEwan University, Medicine Hat College, Mount Royal University, Red Deer College, University of Lethbridge, University of Alberta, University of Calgary. |

MacEwan Student Success Bursaries July 31 |
There are a number of awards available to all students pursuing a post-secondary educating at MacEwan University. Awards are given for $2000 to certificate and diploma students and $3000 to degree students. Applicants must have already received acceptance or conditional acceptance to MacEwan University. |

The ManCap Foundation offers grants in the names of Alberta entrepreneurs to Alberta high school graduates entering the first year of studies at an accredited Alberta post-secondary institution, in preparation for starting a business. The grants are valued at $3000 each. |

For students entering a full-time program at NAIT for the first time. This includes students who have taken time off after high school without attending another post-secondary institution and students who have completed Academic Upgrading. |

Edmonton Community Foundation Community Scholarships August 31 |
For Edmonton and area residents who are experiencing financial need, have a demonstrated history of community leadership and volunteerism, and who can demonstrate that the program being pursued will enhance their ability to contribute in a meaningful way to the not-for-profit sector. |

Charmaine Letourneau Scholarshiops August 31 |
For deaf or hard of hearing residents of Alberta who will attend an academic or training program at a qualified post-secondary institution. |

Ranald & Vera Shean Memorial Scholarships August 31 |
For students from Edmonton or Northern Alberta, who are pursuing classical music study of violin or piano at a recognized post-secondary institution or with a recognized private music teacher. The primary criterion is quality of performance. |

Youth Formerly in Care Bursary August 31 |
For students who are residents of Edmonton or Northern Alberta who have spent a minimum of two years in the care and/or guardianship of Alberta Children and Youth Services (or any earlier related provincial government department that dealt with wards of the province). |
