FRIDAY PRAYERS CANCELLED today. Please listen next week regarding future times.
BUS PASS sale times are before morning classes, during the student lunch and after school. Bus passes will be on sale until November 5. You need a valid student I.D.
REMEMBRANCE DAY is just around the corner and poppies are available in the main office. There will also be a traveling maple leaf display going around the school so keep an eye out in the Bookloft, the front entrance, near the gym as well as the hallways of the north wing. Please remember a donation for the Edmonton Poppy Fund. Our goal is to have every student and staff member wearing a poppy at our Remembrance Day ceremony next Friday.
VIMY RIDGE: This weekend is the deadline to sign up for the 2014 Vimy Ridge trip to get $200 off your tour cost. Please see Mr. Hackett in the large gym at lunch for details.
GRAD RINGS: Attention graduates, Jostens will be here at Shep today, Friday, during lunch hour, in the front foyer. This will be the last day to order your ring this year.
STUDENT SERVICES
POST-SECONDARY PRESENTATIONS: Students - a reminder that we have more universities coming to Shep to speak to us. On Monday Kings University (Halifax) is here at lunch and Carleton at 3:30. Both presentations will take place in Student Services. On Tuesday McGill will be presenting in the Archives at 3:30 p.m. All students considering a school outside of Alberta should attend these talks.
GRANT MACEWAN’S OPEN HOUSE will be held this Saturday.

GROWVEMBER: This month, SU is initiating its yearly Growvember campaign. For those of you who don't know, Growvember is where brave men grow facial hair all November long supporting prostate cancer research. If you are interested in growing some facial hair for this great cause, be sure to sign up as a pledge by grabbing a short application package THIS Monday in the office. And if you aren't interested in exactly growing a beard or moustache, SU will be selling buttons, pins and wristbands later in the month with proceeds going to Growvember as well. Be sure to check the SU events Facebook page for more info!
DEBATE CLUB: Are you really interested in Social Studies? How about the United Nations? There will be a lunch meeting next Wednesday for those who are interested in participating for High School Model United Nations at the end of February. The meeting again will be next Wednesday, at lunch, in Room 219! This is a great way to get involved and have tons of fun!
VOLUNTEER/JOB OPPORTUNTIES
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: West Edmonton Mall is looking for a student volunteer to work in their Marine Life department. Volunteers must be in grade 12 and enrolled in or have completed Biology 30 or Chemistry 30. Responsibilities include educating guests, food preparation and delivery, cleaning enclosures and animal enrichment. See Mr. Magee or Mr. Bezubiak if you are interested in applying.
JOB OPENING: West Edmonton Mall is looking for athletic individuals to work at their rope course. Applicants need to be comfortable with heights. First Aid/CPR is an asset. See Mr. Magee or Mr. Bezubiak for application details.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: All boys interested in trying out for basketball please attend a short meeting today, Friday, at noon in the small gym. If you are unable to make it, see Mr. Youngs in the Phys. Ed. Office.
SOCCER: Calling all Shep boys and Shep girls! Interested in trying out for indoor soccer? Come by Mr. Buffi's room at lunch for a tryout meeting at 12 noon in room 101. This will be an informational meeting and sign up! This is a co-ed team so anyone who wants to try out can come and sign up!

Saturday both the junior and senior football teams meet the Henry Wise Wood Warriors from Calgary in football exhibition play. Both games are at Foote Field with the juniors kicking off at 11:00 am and the seniors following at 2;00 pm. Cost is $5 at the gate OR you can purchase a season pass from the Physical Education office at a discounted price of $10. Season passes can be also be purchased at the gate but will cost $20.
